Algonquin College Ottawa Campus
The college's Woodroffe campus is within walking distance (0.65 km), which is a 6-7 minute walk away, measured from our front door to one of the closest doors on the B building that you see in the background of this picture. We are 450 to 500 meters away from the edge of the campus by foot.
We are located in the subdivision south of the campus, between the school and Meadowlands road. This is a quiet area that consists exclusively of single, detached family homes. You can reach us by walking south along Woodroffe, and turning left into the subdivision, or walk through Ryan Farm Park, onto Withrow Ave, and then turn right into the subdivision.
If we are full, or you are looking for a different type of accommodation, the Algonquin College Student's Association has a housing search web page that you may wish to try.
University Students
Why stay here? We offer housing in a quiet, older neighborhood of single family homes, yet we are very close to the OC Transpo Baseline bus terminal so getting to and from classes is very convenient. There are many other great features nearby. This offers an attractive alternative to students that do not wish to live in the downtown core.
There are great study and research resources within walking distance at both the Nepean Centerpointe Library and at Algonquin College. There is no charge to use the Algonquin College library, and material can be taken out on loan by any resident. The Nepean Centerpointe Library branch of the Ottawa public library is a large, modern facility. This is about a 10 minute walk if you do not take a shortcut.

OC Transpo is Ottawa's municipal transit system, they have a web page dedicated to students. We are close to the Baseline Transitway station, and many bus routes on Woodroffe Ave. A monthly bus pass would be the lowest cost for bus users. A student's regular monthly pass would be sufficient for any of the suggested routes to either university. Please click this link for bus pass details. Algonquin College automatically sells you a bus pass, which is built into your tuition.
The Transitway Baseline station is a 6-7 minute walk, or you can catch a bus for 1 stop and only walk for 2-3 minutes. The funny item on the front of this bus is a bicycle holder.
Carleton University
The University is 7.4 km away by car according to Google Maps. There are two recommended ways to get there by bus, according to OC Transpo, the bus company..
The # 111 bus is a direct service to Carleton, and you would board at Woodroffe Ave and David Dr stop (about 200 meters away). During the 7:00 to 11:00 AM period the buses come every 15 minutes,a 2-3 minute walk to the bus station, and the travel time is about 42 minutes to the Carleton University station, according t othe OCTranspo's web site. The following link shows a complete weekday timetable for route #111.
OC Transpo also recommend either the #74, 75 or 86 bus, transfer to the LRT at Tunney's Pasture, and transferring to the O-Train for 1 stop to Bayview station, and then transfer to the #2 bus. This is slightly faster than the #111, but not quite as convenient as a transfer is required. Once the LRT line to Carleton University re-opens this will be faster and will replace the #2 bus.
If we are full, or you are looking for a different type of accommodation, the Carleton University off-campus housing has a housing search web page that you may wish to try. We are located in zone 18 on the C.U. geographical areas map.
University of Ottawa
The university is 14 km away by car, according to Google maps, using the 417 (Queensway) Instead we recommend the direct bus route which travels on the Transitway and so avoids traffic congestion delays.
You can catch any of either #74,75 or 86 bus to Tunney's pasture where you transfer to the LRT and then exit at the uOttawa LRT station on the campus. This typically takes about 39 to 44 minutes, and in the future you will be able to board the LRT at Baseline station and skip the bus altogether.
If we are full, or you are looking for a different type of accommodation, the University of Ottawa off-campus housing search web page is another place to look.
