Student Daytime Parking near Algonquin College
We Rent Parking Spots to Students Who Do Not Live With Us
We have no parking spot still available for the fall of 2024.
Typically we have daytime parking spots available for rent at $65.00 a month which is about 50% of the monthly $129.00 fee charged by the college for the least expensive lot. We require payment for each term (4 months) in advance, or on the first day of the term. Our driveway is 6-7 minutes walk (0.65 km) from the B building, along Woodroffe Ave. Please go to our contact us page and e-mail or phone us for further information. We rent for the minimum duration of 4 months, and ideally for 8 months.
Our driveway is three cars wide and two cars deep. We rent up to three of the outer spots to Algonquin students for daytime parking, with no chance of the day time parking spots being blocked in.
No trucks or pickup trucks accepted.
We do not permit overnight parking., In the winter we need time with no vehicles in the driveway in order to clear the driveway of snow. We understand there are some evening classes and so parking may be required until the evening classes are over. There is a limit to how late the landlord wishes to start snow blowing after the last person renting a parking spot has left, and it also reasonable to limit how early a parking spot may be occupied in the morning so it is possible for the landlord to snow blow the driveway before the first car arrives in the morning. Currently these limits are 10:00PM to 7:45AM. This is typically of concern from 15 Nov to 1st of April.
If you have evening classes during the winter, then supply us with a schedule of the start and end of evening classes to assist in our planning of when to clear the snow after a storm.
We offer two features that the college does not offer; better security and a fixed place to park that is reserved for you. The security risks for your vehicle is much lower when parked in our driveway, rather than in an anonymous sea of cars. Our driveway may be about the same walking distance for you as the green lot, if you are going to the B building.
Most of our Tenants do not have a vehicle and if so we have parking space that we can rent out for daytime use by Algonquin College students.
We have a driveway that can fit 6 cars and we are located so close to Algonquin College that we are frequently asked if we will rent a student a daytime parking spot. There is no daytime parking permitted on any of the streets surrounding Algonquin College and the stores will ticket students parking in store parking lots.
Once we have our full complement of students for each school term and we know if the students have a car, then we will know if we have any space available to rent for day parking. When we do, we charge about 50% of the current price for a monthly parking pass in the lowest cost lot which is the green lot.
The Algonquin web site states "The purchase of a parking permit does not guarantee a space is available in your designated area." My son found out the hard way that if the green lot was full, there may be no space in the only lower cost lot that he is entitled to park in. He was told to park in the Pay and Display lot which is even further away. What if this lot is full? Check this out to see if the situation has improved. We are about the same distance to the B building as the center of the green lot but that may not be true for other buildings. My son had trouble because he had his first class starting late in the morning or even in the afternoon and when he arrived the lots were full.
Don't think about parking in the Home Depot lot or in the College Square lot! We regularly see cars that are ticketed! They check for students and you may get away with it for a few days, but once they have your licence number and know you are a student, they will be looking for your vehicle! One ticket is more than our monthly rate!
The residential streets within walking distance of Algonquin are all marked for 1 hour parking from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM so parking on the street will also produce a lot of tickets.
